The most loved. Famous or not.
Why we rank by guest love instead of marketing budget — and what happens when you do.
Most travel lists are a transaction. A hotel pays — in commission, in advertising, in PR — and a slot opens up. The bigger the budget, the higher the placement. The reader, scrolling, mistakes spend for excellence. We were tired of that. So we built something simpler: a collection where no hotel can pay to appear, move up, or stay in.
We read what guests actually wrote — not just the scores, but the cadence of their sentences. A place earns its way into the collection when hundreds of those small details agree. Famous or unknown, big or twelve-room, glittering or quiet — the standard is the same.
Something happens when you stop ranking by budget. Icons you already know are still here. But beside them, finally visible, are the others — the places nobody is paid to mention. They were always exceptional. We just removed the noise that was hiding them.
